HYROX DC 2026: A Local's Race Guide

HYROX comes back to Washington on September 3–7, 2026, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center: the event's first five-day stop in the nation's capital. If you're racing, planning to, or just hyrox-curious, here's everything an Arlington athlete needs in one place including how to race the whole thing once before race day.

The quick facts

When: September 3–7, 2026 — five days of racing; your exact wave depends on your division and ticket. Where: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Allen Y. Lew Place NW, Washington, DC — Metro-accessible, no parking headaches required. Divisions: Open and Pro singles, Doubles (men's, women's, mixed), and relay formats. Tickets: released in batches and they move fast — check the official HYROX DC event page for current availability and wave times. Spectators: need their own spectator ticket, and bring ID for the spectators desk.

What you'll actually do out there

A HYROX race is the same everywhere in the world: eight 1-kilometer runs, each followed by a station, in this order — SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. No mystery events, no skill cutoffs. It's a pacing and engine race: the athletes who blow up are almost never the ones who lacked fitness — they're the ones who'd never rehearsed the full sequence.

Which is exactly why we're doing this next part.

Race the race first: the Hybrid Athlete Race Simulation — Saturday, August 15, 12–4 PM

Three weeks before DC, CrossFit Adaptation is hosting a Hybrid Athlete Race Simulation, a full HYROX-style practice race, at our gym in Shirlington (4144 S Four Mile Run Dr, right on the W&OD Trail). Run the format, feel the sled-to-run transition in your legs, find your real pace, and fix your fueling plan while there's still time to train on what you learn. Entry is $40 per athlete, and it's open to members and non-members, every station scales, so you don't need to be race-fit to jump in, whether you're racing DC or training for a mud race, marathon, or triathlon. Racing doubles? Bring your partner or come meet one. Sign up on our Hybrid Athlete Race Simulation event page, or book a free intro and mention the simulation.

Three weeks out: what your training should look like

From mid-August, sharpen rather than expand: race-pace 1K repeats on tired legs, station work at race standards, grip endurance, and one full or half simulation (see above — we've got you). Nothing new on race week; taper and trust it. For the full picture of how our hybrid race training in Arlington prepares you for events like HYROX — coached classes, real running on the W&OD, strength that holds up in the back half — come see us.

When and where is HYROX DC 2026?

HYROX DC runs September 3–7, 2026 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. It's the event's first five-day competition in the capital; individual wave times depend on your division and ticket.

Are HYROX DC tickets still available?

Tickets have been released in batches and sell quickly. Check the official HYROX DC event page for current availability — and note that spectators need their own ticket.

What are the 8 HYROX stations, in order?

Every HYROX race is eight 1 km runs alternating with: SkiErg (1,000 m), sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing (1,000 m), farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and 75–100 wall balls depending on division.

Is there a way to practice a HYROX race near Arlington before race day?

Yes! CrossFit Adaptation in Shirlington is hosting a Hybrid Athlete Race Simulation, a full HYROX-style (but not officially sanctioned) practice race on Saturday, August 15, 2026 (12–4 PM), three weeks before HYROX DC. Entry is $40 per athlete, it's open to members and non-members, every station scales, and it's the best way to test pacing before the real thing.

How should I train in the last three weeks before HYROX?

Sharpen, don't expand: race-pace 1K run repeats on fatigued legs, stations at race standard, and grip endurance. Do one full or partial simulation about three weeks out, then taper the final week — no new movements, no max lifts.

I need a doubles partner for HYROX DC, where do I find one?

Train where other HYROX athletes train. A community gym is the natural matchmaking venue: CrossFit Adaptation's August 15 simulation is exactly the kind of room where DC doubles pairs form.
