One of the best things about training at CrossFit Adaptation is what’s right around the corner.

Jennie Dean Park is a 12-acre park just down the road on South Four Mile Run Drive, packed with sports courts, open fields, a great playground for kids, picnic shelters, and a waterfront trail along Four Mile Run.

It’s one of Arlington’s best outdoor spaces—and it’s practically in our backyard.

The park also has a meaningful history. It sits in the heart of the Green Valley community—one of the oldest African American neighborhoods in Arlington County—and is named after Jennie Serepta Dean, a freed slave who became a champion for education in Northern Virginia. The park has been a hub for community sports and gathering since the 1930s, and a recent renovation has honored that legacy while adding modern amenities for everyone to enjoy. It’s a great combination. Finish a class at the gym and cool down with a walk along the trail.

Warm up with a jog through the park before a strength session. Bring the family—the kids can hit the playground while you train, or you can all head to the picnic shelters afterward and make a day of it. When your gym is this close to this much outdoor space, staying active just becomes part of your routine.Want to know more about the park?

Check out the Arlington County parks page or read about its history through the Green Valley Civic Association.
And if you haven’t visited the gym yet, come try a free class and see the neighborhood for yourself.
